Pakistan Super League T20
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf has announced that the maiden Pakistan Super League T20
(PSL) will be held in March next year. In the latest developments of
Pakistan’s version of Twenty20 League (PSL), it is learnt that five
teams (Lahore, Karachi, Sialkot, Faisalabad and a combined team from
Rawalpindi & Islamabad) will feature in the inaugural edition that
is being planned to stage in March 2013. The players will be split into
three categories. Category A will have players ranging from $60,000 to
$75,000; Category B from $35,000 to $50,000; Category C $25,000 to
$30,000. However, an uber-marquee player like Chris Gayle may be offered up to $100,000 if he is willing to play. [Gayle was hired to play SLPL at amount of $100,000 by Uva Next but he could not feature due to injury] If Pakistan follows the footstep of Sri Lanka Premier League
then there will be no player auction. Each team will have 3 foreign
players (two from each Category mentioned above) in its squad whereas
playing XI will have up to four players only. Zaka Ashraf said, "we do not copy of any other country's league. So we named Pakistan Super League PSL"
